Keeping those pesky birds off your boat or other aquatic vehicle can be a big hassle. If birds see your boat as an attractive roosting spot, or they find a source of food, then its going to be much harder to get them to leave. Boats are particularly vulnerable to birds landing because when you’re on the water, the boat is usually the only option for a nice landing spot.

How do you deter them from landing then? You’ve got to take away their potential landing spots, or make it so unappealing that they won’t want to come close to your boat.

To “take away” a bird’s landing spot, you’ve got to physically stop them from landing. This means that you’ll need to install what are commonly referred to as roost inhibitors. The best (most effective) roost inhibitors are bird spikes and bird netting. For a boat, your best bet is spikes, since you can directly install them on the ledges and railing that birds may land upon.

Most of you know Lowe’s as the great home improvement store that it is. They carry an incredible amount of items for home  & garden as well as commercial/industrial tools.

Although their current selection is vast, Lowe’s does not yet carry bird spikes! Bird control is becoming an important part of any pest control operation for all industrial,commercial, and residential applications, so hopefully Lowe’s gets the picture soon and starts to integrate bird control solutions in its arsenal of products. Bird Flite Pro Spikes

Bird Flite is the brand name for Bird Barrier’s Bird Spikes line of spikes. They are similar to most brands of bird spikes but offer a few nuances including design differences, spike array placement, and pricing.

Bird Flite Types

You can get bird flite in polycarbonate plastic (which is semi-transparent). Stainless steel bird spikes are also available, but are more expensive. They are generally more expensive because they last longer, are more effective, and can withstand more pressure from larger birds and animals.

Bird Spikes are now available at Home Depot. They currently carry  two varieties of the standard width bird spikes for use in keeping birds off ledges.
